At 120 TB of storage space, we have a large shared storage array by any standards. What sets ours apart is its speed: we can pipe 4:4:4 HD to any suite in the building. But the real beauty of Xsan is that we can give any suite in the building immediate access to any project. All you have to do is logout, move to a new suite and login again.
So if the agency's coming in, and you'd like a large screening suite with a projector for a couple of hours, then it's a matter of seconds to organise. It's ideal for collaborative work: you can have VFX artists working alongside your edit, whilst the audio guys are doing their tracklaying. Or, if a tape arrives half-way through the edit, the first you'll know about it is when you get a call telling you it's ready to cut with.
