Recent Work - 2006
3 Minute Wonders
UNIT are proud to announce that we have begun work on 4 x
'3 Minute Wonder' documentaries for Channel 4. 'The Busker Symphonies' are directed by Benjamin Till.
HD AJI for TVE
UNIT are working on a number of HD Documentaries for Al Jazeera International, through the 'Television For The Environment' or 'TVE'. TVE is an independent, non-profit organisation, which promotes global awareness of the environment, development, human rights and health issues through the platforms of broadcast television and other audio-visual media. Unit's carbon neutral stance makes us the perfect fit.
Unit defines High Def
More and more production companies are choosing UNIT for their HD post production. Over the last month we have dealt with lots of varispeed DVCPRO HD rushes, format conversions from HDV to HDCAM SR, P2 digitising straight from the cards, and 4:4:4 HD fresh from the Arri. Any HD workflow at all, we can sort it.
Eye eye sir
One of our favourite creative production companies has chosen UNIT to take care of the post production on a number of projects through August and September. August saw Rory Cantwell complete both the edit and the Final Touch grade on 'Eye Toy' for Sony.
Grandadbob VFX
The record label, and all related clients were over the moon with our recent work on their promo for 'Grandadbob'. The promo, directed by Andy Roberts, was shot entirely green screen with virtual sets and props all being created in post. Editor and effects artist Roland Woolner used Cinema 4D and After Effects to create an extraordinary finished product. We even supplied him on the shoot for that little bit extra support.
As UNIT continues to grow, so does our client list. We have made another addition to our team with the arrival of Tracey Khan from Rushes, who takes up a Bookings Assistant / Receptionist role with immediate effect.
Pop pickers
July saw the most being made of UNIT's online and grading facilities, with jobs for McFly, Lorraine, and Blazin' Squad getting the Final Cut / Final Touch treatment. We're happy to report that Blazin' Squad went on to give us our first top ten hit.
Naughty Noughte
New Client Noughte Films experienced full HD resolution offline for the first time, in UNIT's Suite 5. Our guys brought in the HD cam rushes uncompressed, and their guys had fun cutting in clarity.
Soho/ So Hot
Soho's heatwave meant power cuts to most facilities at the end of July. UNIT thought fast and hired an Arri generator van. We plugged ourselves in, powered up, and normal deadlines were resumed.
Kasabian Visit
Residents throughout July, included Lightening Productions and Progression, who were working on jobs for Robbie Williams and Kasabian. The latter of whom popped in for a day at Soho's newest hang out.
UNIT combusts
UNIT organised some eye-popping Shake and Combustion work for director Jonnie Malachi's stunning Marie Miller promo. Adam Geffen was the op in UNIT's Suite 3.
Kahlua
Dominic Leung left a happy man after wrapping up a 2 week commercials edit in Suite 5. The 'Kahlua' commercial was directed by Thomas Napper.
NERFF '06
UNIT is the proud sponsor of this years 'No Egos Required Film Festival' that takes place at The Odeon Covent Garden on June 28th. The festival will screen specially commissioned films made by the top guns of London's film industry, with a number of Unit clients entering films. More importantly, the money raised goes to 'Centrepoint', the national charity working to improve the lives of socially excluded, homeless young people.
Clients
Since opening in mid-May, UNIT has been overwhelmed by the reaction we've had. Thanks to everyone to all your support and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Charlatans
Rebecca Hall has completed the online and grade for the brand new 'Charlatans' video in UNIT's suite 5. The video is for the single - 'NYC - There's No Way To Stop' and was Directed by Georgio Testi.

Rory Cantwell has now completed the grade on
Y Productions' 80 min feature 'Burning Light' in UNIT's Final Touch Suite 1. The 3 week grade was rendered out at uncompressed HD and transferred to HD D5, ready for film transfer.
