The Summer Exhibition 08
Dutch artist Anthony Krikhaar has lived and worked in London since 1959. John Lennon bought one of his pieces in the late ‘60s, whilst he surprised the art world in the 70’s by firing paint at specially made panels out of a 12-bore shotgun. The work of A.K has it’s roots in the oil painting techniques of the Dutch old masters. He is visually inspired by English painters such as Turner and Constable, but also by very much admired contemporary British painters. His work is figurative, in some pieces bordering on the abstract. He is widely collected and has an impressive list of corporate and private clients.
The Spring Exhibition 08
Robert Woolner was born in Jamaica in 1946, trained at Camberwell Schol of Art and was Director of Art at Canford School until 1990. He lives and works at Vanners Studio in North Dorset. His recent abstract paintings are an attempt to distil my interest in texture and light, and much of his work is about containment: the atmosphere within and the view from without. The illuminated interiors of his paintings and the use of warm and cool colours follow the artist’s obsession with shifting patterns of light. These paintings have been described as protective enclosures that have the dominance of fortification.
The Winter Exhibition 08
Robin Duttson studied at: The Royal College of Art (MA, Sculpture), Central Saint Martin's College of Art (BA, Sculpture), Cambridge University (MA, Architecture) and the Slade School of Art.
At their simplest level these drawings aim convey some of the optimism and beauty of springtime. Robin has always been interested in mediating between finite, immediate, experiences and the awareness of cycles past and future.
This wonderful images are the first to grace the walls of UNIT's new conservatory bar and gallery space.
The Summer Exhibition 07
Originally exhibited at a premier London auction house in 2006, Lizzy Ellison's photographic study of Burlesque captures a real Burlesque artist in a series of evocative scenarios. Intended to pay homage to this subversive subject, the pictures on show at once stimulate and entice the spectator, inviting them to voyeuristically indulge themselves in the sensual world that is Burlesque.
The Winter Exhibition 07
February 1st welcomes the work of Sarah Reed to UNIT Gallery and after our first 2 exhibitions being so well received and resulting in a number of sales for the Artists, we have high hopes for this one. Especially as for the duration of this inspired 3rd Exhibition, we have the privilege of housing the world's most famous masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci, with a twist.
The Winter Exhibition 06
Tahnee Lonsdale's 'In Another World' is now showing. Tahnee is a product of London's prestigious Byam Shaw School of Art, where her work developed from small, spidery illustrations to the big, bold and epic fantasy paintings you can see exhibited today. Her paintings, done mainly onto large canvases, depict strange and wonderful stories within apocalyptic, fairytale landscapes. Come on by to check them out.
The Summer Exhibition 06
UNIT Gallery started life displaying work from photographer and director Ray Kilby. The exhibition was great success with a number of works being sold and a private view that allowed friends, clients and family to let their hair down in the name of art. Please call us to find out about up-and-coming exhibitions at UNIT.
