Celebrating International Women’s week!

Are you aware that women’s employment in the top-grossing films of 2022 remains astonishingly low, according to a new report. Composers, writers, directors and cinematographers working behind the scenes on the movies we watched last year were overwhelmingly male, and women’s representation in these roles has barely budged in the previous 25 years.

In 2022, women comprised only 24% of directors, writers, producers, editors and cinematographers – down 1% from 2021.

Written and directed by the extremely talented Meena Ayittey. ‘I Shall Rise’ is a powerful, poetic exploration of identity, acceptance, and the role of motherhood in South Africa’s LGBTQ+ community. ‘I Shall Rise’ stars drag artist and activist Belinda Qaqamba Ka-Fassie.

‘Girl up, Today we rise’

‘NHS Neonatal, could you?’

Directed by Imogen Harrison

Nominated in this year’s British Arrows Awards, NHS Neonatal is a beautiful spot calling on a search for compassionate and gentle neonatal nurses. Directed by the inspiring Imogen Harrison, this film manages to not only assist in the call for more nurses, but to give credit to the existing nurses already saving young babies’ lives day in day out. 

‘We all rise with more eyes’ 

Directed by Alyssa Boni 

Alyssa Boni highlights in this incredible content the growth in which “More eyes” will have on the UEFA Women’s Champions League after DAZN streamed all matches live and free for fans around the world. At a time when professional women’s sport continues to fight for more exposure, the film celebrates a media partnership that brings visibility like never before to players, clubs, and the elite competition itself, by making all matches available to fans all over the globe.
