Cuppa with UNIT’s Newest Hire Maddy Miles – The New Production Assistant

We sat down for a chat with Maddy to discuss all things UNIT. Here’s what she had to say…

  1. What first got you interested in post-production?

Since leaving University I was really keen to get involved in production any way I could and a post production house offers a really great environment to learn – especially as my first job in the industry!

I really enjoy how at UNIT I have the structure and consistency of the producers and team members but at the same time the diverse range of clients and freelancers – which keeps all the projects really interesting and constantly allows new challenges to be faced.

  1. What’s the most rewarding part of supporting a seamless post pipeline?

It’s really nice to just make everybody’s days go a bit smoother. I’m still learning and navigating new elements of the role but any way I can help the producers in their day-to-day operations and support the progress of a project feels rewarding.

  1. How has it been joining the UNIT team? Any standout moments so far?

It’s been really great – my time as a runner at UNIT helped me get to know everyone and understand each department’s workflow, which really set me up for the transition to becoming a production assistant.

The standout moment at UNIT is just getting to work alongside really kind and talented people everyday.

I’m only at the beginning of my career and I have really appreciated how generous everyone has been with their time and patience with me!

  1. What advice would you give to someone starting out in post-production today?

Ask lots of questions and two cups of coffee a day is probably enough.
