UNIT Delivers VFX for Emmy-Nominated Mountainhead, Nominated for Outstanding Television Movie

Jesse Armstrong’s debut feature on HBO, a biting, high-altitude satire from the creator of Succession, aired earlier this year and has been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Television Movie category.

A big congratulations to the wider team for this achievement – the 77th Emmy Awards winners will be announced on September the 14th.

Set against an escalating international crisis, the film follows a group of billionaires — played by Steve Carell, Cory Michael Smith, Ramy Youssef, and Jason Schwartzman — as they retreat to a sterile alpine sanctuary. What starts as playful sparring quickly fractures into conflict, spiked with global unrest and a call from the president.

The VFX were produced in-house by UNIT Head of Film & TV Louise Stevenson and Senior Post Producer Devan Vimal, who collaborated closely with the UNIT creative team to deliver a high-end finished product.

UNIT Film & TV delivered a portion of the film’s VFX, led by VFX Artist and Online Editor Sion Penny, with additional VFX contributions from Simon Giblin, Ben North, and Alex Antonio.

Grading for Mountainhead was completed offsite by UNIT Senior Colourist Dan Coles, who crafted a subtle, cinematic look that enhanced the film’s darkly comic tone and distinctive visual style.

Watch the film now on HBO, Now TV, and Amazon Prime.
